Clichés...when I think about all the clichés that have been crammed
down my throat since childhood, I could...just go bake a cake.
Why is it that when a woman has determination, drive, and ambition, she's
either lesbian, a man hater, or unattractive to the opposite sex? Since
when is it unattractive to be confident in yourself and your abilities?
Why is it a turnoff for a woman to be smart? Why is a woman labeled a
bitch, lesbian, or unattractive if she has the balls to "correct a man?"
Recently I corrected a "man" with regards to the spelling of the word
"friend." I could immediately feel the attract-o-meter plummet down to -32
degrees. Why should I be made to feel hideously ugly just because I'm
better at something than you are? This is not directed at men
either. My best friend since kindergarten has been in relationships
since...well...kindergarten. She doesn't feel "complete" without a man
(I'm sorry...boy) in her life. She struggles in every relationship she's
been in and doesn't have the sense to stop and ask herself why. Perhaps
it's because she has never gotten to know herself! She's one of those
unfortunate women that kind of morph into whatever her boyfriend du jour
pictures as the "perfect girlfriend." Such a pity.
Oh...and another thing. I love sex. Why is it okay for a man to
be sexual and not a woman? Yes I know this is cliché as well, but I'm not
a slut, and I resent anyone telling me that I am a slut just because I'm getting
my needs met, in a responsible fashion I might add. It is perfectly okay
for a man to have casual sex, but women are still expected to be pure and
virginal...awaiting their knight in shining armor to come "de-flower"
them. Gimme a break.
