I am my own destiny. I am not defined by my couple status, my sexual orientation, or what is or is not between my legs. I judge others by their actions - I expect others to judge me for mine. I don't have to be liked, I don't have to be loved - but I do have to be respected. Take or leave my opinions or ideas - but dammit, listen to them. A pair of tits and a uterus does not make me an object to humor or talk down to.
I make my own rules, I play by them. They're fair - just because they don't follow the majority or just because you don't always win doesn't mean they're not fair. I take responsibility for myself, my actions, my work, and my life. Yes, I do fuck up. You bet I do. Sometimes colossally so. But you can be sure that when I do I will step up, take the heat, and walk away with my head up, wiser and better for it.
I am the sole creator of my happiness. My joy of life does not rely on what is expected of me, someone else, or what you expect should make me happy. I'm happy because I make it so. Nothing and no one else will ever be able to do that for me. Does that frighten you? Good. It means I'm making you think. And goddess knows we could use a hell of a lot more thinkers in this world. Too many damned people out there don't bother to waste the energy to think for themselves.
The thing is, being heartless is really about being heart-full. The most amazing gift you can give someone is a chance to be themselves in all of their botched up glory. So, I'll listen, but I expect you to act. I expect those around me to live their lives for themselves, on their own terms. I won't coddle, I won't settle. They shouldn't either. Life's too damned short to be anyone other than yourself.
Those Heartless Bitches (both male and female) in my life who have kicked my ass whipped me into shape. They were/are the most compassionate people I know. What's better gift than strength to be yourself against all odds? How could I not pass that on?
