I believe I am perceived as a bit of a Bitch for the following reasons;
I live with my boyfriend and refuse to make my mother happy by getting married.
Sorry, but I'm not stuffing my (non-virginal) bod into a stupid white (virginal) Barbie dress that costs more than my used Toyota Corolla. I'm also not paying for a lot of barely-there relatives to eat limp beef brisket or fresh-frozen chicken cordon bleu at $40 a pop just for the sake of 'legitimizing' my relationship.
I hate weddings. I find them boring, banal and incredibly moronic for the most part.
I also don't need a diamond, thanks. What a bunch of crap the whole diamond ring thing is! I'd rather spend the money on two mountain bikes and a road trip to Colorado. I can't believe some women actually press their hands to their hearts in consternation when I state, "I'm not waiting for a diamond. I'm not waiting for anything, period. We don't plan on getting married! Or having kids! We've been together 6 years, couldn't be happier and like our lives just the way they are!"
I endured the 'wait until you hit your mid thirties' line until I hit 39. Now I gleefully inform people I'm teetering on the edge of 40 and that usually shuts them up.
I don't look 40....another reason to piss people off (I loved the HBI Skinny Bitch rant, by the way)
Yes, the not having kids thing seems to bug some people too. I've read other posts here and I've probably been pegged with all the same tag lines; immature, selfish, etc.
Whatever.
I have the temerity to believe in God but not in any religion that condemns any group to hell. I think the concept of hell is ridiculous. I try to avoid theological discussions (they quickly get tedious) but I think some folks are appalled at the idea that I disagree with the "good folks get to go to heaven and bad folks get to go to hell" theory. I think we all go to the same place when we die.
"But...so...you think the terrorists get to go to heaven?"
"Yes, I think we all do."
"But that's not fair! They're evil! Why should good people have to die and the terrorists go to heaven?"
My argument is that the life experience is just that....one is here to experience life on a physical plane. Afterwards, you move on to another plane. There's no special place for people who've followed all the rules with a lava pit reserved for the rule breakers.
"I can't believe you think those 9/11 terrorists get to go to heaven! That's sick!"
Well, OK then. You see how tedious these arguments get?
I also don't think heaven consists of hanging out on clouds, eating cheesecake and stroking your own wing feathers. But we'll see when we get there.
I hope there's roller coasters.
Oh and finally....I LOVE seeing puffed-up windbags being taken down a few notches. It just makes my day. I love how y'all skewer those sappy websites too. And the people here have the most excellent vocabularies!
I respect a command of the language. I really get pissed off when people can't figure out which 'to' to use (too? to? two?) and abuse commas.
