I'm a Heartless Bitch because I know what I want and strive to
achieve it. My determination sometimes puts people off, and I may sometimes say
things the 'wrong' way (meaning I usually refrain from sugar-coating facts), but
basically I believe in telling it like it is. It amazes me that some people,
mostly women, choose to 'suffer in silence' instead of just telling it like it
is.
Of course I don't believe in abusing people verbally (though it can be fun
- I used to have tremendous fun with my skills in that area when I was younger
and went out to bars and clubs and met particularly dim-witted specimens of the
opposite sex - just a part of growing up, I guess), but being direct is in no
way obscene in my book. Some people make a tireless effort to misunderstand
everything or conceive things as negatively as possible, and to them I just say:
"If you somehow felt personally offended by anything I just said, my tone of
voice, the way my face looked as I pronounced the words, then chances are I
didn't mean it that way!"
People don't always like me, but they seem to respect me - and that's all I
want. I have a boyfriend, but I have no intention of wearing a big, ugly, puffy,
white dress anytime soon. I kind of think the institution of marriage is
outdated. I don't need a piece of paper to tell me that he belongs to me - he
belongs to himself as I belong to myself. The fact of the matter is I like being
with him just as much as I like being by myself. And I truly treasure time by
myself.
I'm appalled at the rigid, narrow-minded and some times extreme ideologies
that exist around the world. Ideologies that oppress and degrade especially
women. I look forward to seeing the women's rights movement hit old-fashioned
primarily Muslim countries. I believe that changes have to come from within
these countries, I don't think the process can be forced, but damn I'm looking
forward to observing and supporting that change. I mean, how surreal is it that
women are still being stoned to death for having 'allowed' themselves to be
raped?
Being a Heartless Bitch means that you:
- Have a brain and use it for more than counting calories
- stand up for yourself
- achieve the goals you set for yourself
- treat those who deserve it with respect
- ignore insignificant whiners
- function independently
- support those who need it
- are able to articulate the abovementioned beliefs
