I always thought I wasn't really normal, but I hadn't actually figured out how different I was from most girls until my first year of college. I don't wear make up, I don't go shopping a lot, I don't lay out a perfectly matching outfit every morning for an 8 AM class, I don't watch MTV, and I don't suck up to teachers or use my gender as a ploy for better treatment.

I do my work, I wear whatever the hell I want, I don't seek out attention by showing off my cleavage, and I don't fill my mind with garbage from Cosmo and MTV. I go out and achieve the goals that make me happy and that I think will benefit myself.

Academically I've pushed myself very hard because I want to be completely independent in the future, mentally and financially. My last two involvements with men were with a manipulator, and then with the incredibly insecure nice guy. Only after the breakup I did go back and retrace the effects of his insecurities, and I really think they were the main cause of the breakup. The articles about the tactics and behaviors of nice guys were right on, and I would like be able to talk on the Bitch Board with other people who actually get it.
