Being raised an East Indian in a western country taught me a pretty important lesson, you can learn from your elders but don't try to be them, because you ­will- make the same mistakes as them.

And that's why I will not turn myself into something that everyone else wants me to be. People who conform are constantly trying to prove themselves and are upset when other people don't want to prove themselves to them. Honestly, I don't have anything to prove to anyone other than myself.

I'm sorry if I break your heart because I don't want to live up to any expectations you have of me but I have my own goals and I work hard to accomplish them.

So next time you sit down at dinner to decide my future, you should think about inviting me. Otherwise, don't be too surprised when you ask me to do something and I give you a blank look and inform you that shit happens.
