I agreed with everything in the Heartless Bitch manifesto, brilliant stuff but I have to confess, I'm generally a nice girl who needs help bringing out my inner fury.

Why do I need help? Because I think if I can't start to be myself, sooner or later I'm going to have a hernia from forced smiling or burst a blood vessel in my brain from too much self-restraint.

The world expects young women to be nice girls, sweet, tame and soft spoken and I'm ashamed to say I've internalised this. The other day I got into a debate that got me pretty excited. It was a topic I was well versed on and passionate about, I mean I was practically banging my fist on the table. So how did I feel afterwards? Embarrased! Can you imagine I felt embarrased for expressing myself passionately as it was opposed to the image of woman as self-restrained, tame and demure.

Well enough, fuck 'em, I want to be able to bark and growl with the best of them.
