I've fucking HAD IT with whiny, self-indulged, entitled,
commitment-phobic, over-educated ASSHOLES. You know, the kind who use
arm-chair philosophy and psychology to justify their ego-centric, selfish,
thoughtless, irresponsible ways. "Blah Blah I love women and Emma Goldman
is my hero, and she was all about women's rights and anarchy and
open-relationships, [or insert any other combination of philosopher and paradigm
here], so I just can't be bothered to be in a trusting committed relationship/
worry about the feelings of others/ follow through with promises/ be a decent
human being because I feel that it's demeaning to allow society to define or put
a qualifier on my relationships."
I'm not talking about the ones who have actually considered these views in
all of their complexity and have dedicated themselves to acting upon their
philosophies. I'm talking about the ones who use these sorts of phrases as
a fucking COP OUT so that they never actually have to GROW UP/ GET A LIFE/
GRADUATE COLLEGE/ STOP HANGING OUT WITH IMMATURE 20-year-olds who don't have the
life experience to see them for who they really are. You know, the guy who
will consistently do whatever is in his own best interest, while FUCKING OVER
every other significant person in his life, through irresponsibility, lies,
manipulation, etc., while combing through his old college textbooks looking for
ways to browbeat you with "philosophy," like it's some sort of panacea to
explain away the fact that we humans are social creatures who have effects on,
and responsibilities to, each other.
I have spent the last two years of my life trying to muddle my way out of
the wreckage left by one master-manipulator MIND FUCK, and, now that my head is
screwed on straight and I can see him for who he really is, I am fucking
PISSED. Who the hell do these philosophical, psycho-babble idiots think we
are? And what is it about society that primes us women to fall for
such idiots and then allow it to happen to others? More people need to
find empowerment and understanding, and band together to create a community
where these things are less likely to happen- not because we infringe upon the
"rights" of the asshole, but because we are too informed to fall for his
bullshit.
