I'm a Heartless Bitch because I don't believe that speaking up in class or holding a viable opinion makes me a 'dyke', as some male classmates have so politely put it. As an intelligent young woman who can speak more eloquently on endless topics than the asshole beside me, I deserve to speak without hearing muttering around me. I'm a Heartless Bitch because I don't believe in the prostitution of our young girls with mini-skirts and t-shirts that read "hot slut". Finally, I'm a Heartless Bitch because I know that feminism is not a movement of the past, it is not a cliché, and it is not a man-bashing club filled with lesbians who don't shave. We are still sadly lacking in equality on many platforms, and change is vital. When I was 15, the grade "hottie" and resident dick posted a list online of the Top Ten Hottest Girls, complete with the name and favourite body part of the girl. I promptly responded that for him, the list doubled as a list of girls who would never touch him unless they were heavily intoxicated (the case for several of them). I received some high fives, some thank-yous, and some "fat Bitch!"'s, but it was still worth it. It was probably the first time I realized how much still needs to be changed.
