I don't need a crutch to get what I want in my life. I hate those who
whine and complain about not having that "special someone" to go on in their
life. I hate seeing countless of people who give up everything just because
they're boyfriend/girlfriend dumped them. The grades start to falter or work
begins to be avoided, can put a dent into daily life. I can understand the
immediate depression of being dumped, I'm not an asshole. But to need months or
even a goddamn year to get over it is just too much. Life goes on, and that is
the truth. You don't have to be with someone to be happy.
Just because your friend has a boyfriend doesn't mean you have to go out on
a limb and get one yourself. It's a false image that we apply to ourselves to be
like everyone else, to seem "normal" by having someone. Not saying we all should
toss aside relationships and wave the flag of solidarity. But there will be
moments in our lives when we don't have a person there and have to be
independent. So of you who say you NEED someone in your lives; Get off that
crutch and finally learn to walk by yourself.
