I will NOT live my life according to other peoples rules, attitudes, direction or censure. If someone asks for my advice and refuses to take it, then they don't get to ask for it again - they don't get to bitch about it to me again. I am a 37 year old female, who seems to have a different attitude to life and the world than most of the people around me. This doesn't bother me, but it fascinates me how many people - i.e. family and even friends, will suggest I try something to conform. And the suggestion that in order to "get a man", I should a) not talk about myself b) not talk about my hobbies/passions and c) ask him lots of questions and listen to him doe-eyed, makes me scream! Why in the name of Deity-of-your-choice would I WANT to be involved with a person who doesn't want to understand ME ?

So - I came across your site. Read some of the rants, read some of the quotes, read the home page and decided that this might be my kind of place. I dont profess to be a complete HB - but I'm willing and eager to learn.
