There are people who go through the world being victims of circumstance and there are people who refuse to let obstacles in life prevent them from doing what they want. I am the latter of the two. My family is from a very conservative, patriarchal culture and I have fought (and succeeded) their preconceived notions of what a woman should be and have become the woman I want to be. I will not let others tell me how I am supposed to behave or what my goals in life should be based upon my gender. And I won't do it quietly! I am very politically active in feminist and anti imperialist politics and not afraid to voice my opinions in company of ignorant people who don't share my opinions. It is one thing to have political discussions with people who share your sentiments all the time and entirely another to face the opposition and pick apart their arguments, fallacy by fallacy and I enjoy every minute of it.
