I spent most of my life being a care taking, needy, codependent doormat. One day a doctor offered me medication for symptoms of depression. I looked at her in horror and said "I don't need medication; I need to change my life". It took me 4 years to get my SELF back, to leave my abusive husband of 14 years, to remember who I really am: strong, independent, energetic, 'in your face', and damn funny. I clawed my way up from being a dependent housedog to a professional with my own home, a new car, fantastic successful friends and two kids mending very well from the effects of living with an abusive narcissist. I'm a top ten regional triathlete, a singer, a writer, a scientist - all those things I could not be as second fiddle to a jealous, insecure toddler-man. For years I was afraid of him. Now, honey, he's afraid of me. For years I've been a Skinny Bitch, why shouldn't I be a Heartless one? Oh, yeah: I know the difference between 'affect' and 'effect', and have an excellent spell- and grammar- checker: me.
