I am a Heartless Bitch because I advocate taking responsibility for one's own actions. No, society/whatever group is being hated on at the moment/your parents, w. didn't cause you to be a complete fuck up. YOU caused that with your own actions. That means that when *I* completely fuck up, I own it. It's MY fault, not the rest of the world's fault, that I could not get it together. I am teaching my daughter this principle. So far, it's going well, even if she has friends who whine that it's not THEIR fault that they aren't doing well in school (because they don't study), or that they don't understand why their parents don't trust them (sneaking out, getting caught doing drugs and/or your boy/girlfriend, and various other things don't inspire trust in parents). She points out to them that their actions = the consequences...and she's even started quoting what I say to her, "lack of preparation on your part does not equal an emergency on my part."
