This question is not as simple as it seems.
I didn't always consider myself a bitch, and at first, I
was rather indignant at being labeled as one, and tried
to explain my behavior and way of thinking to those who
took it upon themselves to call me such. But
rationalizing my entire personality became a tad bit
tedious, so I came to the conclusion that if knowing
what you want and having the balls to go after it
relentlessly, speaking your mind no matter who's
feelings you might hurt or what consequences you might
pay, and never sacrificing my identity, ideals, or morals
for ANYONE, man, woman or situation were the qualifications to become a bitch,
then I was destined to be crowned the Queen Bitch.
It took me a year or so, but after so many times hearing
the damn word in the same sentence as my name, I accepted
the role and eventually came to be proud of the fact. Now
if the supposed insult is hissed at me, I smile and say,
"Damn straight." I only become pissed when the adjectives
are incorrect. "Stupid Bitch" is one I take offense to, and
may be forced to prove just how wrong they really are by
giving them an official, drop-to-your-knees-and-beg-for-mercy
tongue lashing.
I only recently began to narrow the wide playing field of "bitches"
by attaching "Heartless". After two serious relationships fell flat,
I declared a year long sabbatical away from the idiocy of "love".
I lasted one year and three months without a man in my life, so you
can imagine all of the "ice queen, possible lesbian, definite
man-hater" remarks I endured within that time frame. I considered
it a wonderful little break to get to know myself, and reprioritize.
Now, I will write off a man within five minutes if he shows signs of
possessiveness, jealousy, insecurity, laziness, stuffiness, lack of
creativity... and the list goes on and on. I refuse to waste my time on
anyone who does not have an overabundance of potential. Therefore, I
am Heartless, and do not give these guys a chance. So be it, then. I
will embrace it just as proudly as I did "bitch".
I know the true meaning behind the words, and anyone who is worth a
damn will as well.
