I'm over 30, and in my many years I have learned that people, especially men, and some women really resent people who are happy and comfortable with themselves, and in their lives.  I found that in my last marriage, the more independent that I became, the more controlling my EX-husband became.  To the point where it became a physical struggle for him. 

There are many people who rejoice an enlightened other, and to those people, I say thank you.  To those who can't handle it.  Tough!  Live with it.  Don't try to enforce your control over me, I know where my strengths and weaknesses are.  I know I am a complex, happy, intelligent woman with ambition, a plan, and I am a spiritual being who is aware of the causes and affect of nature.  If this makes me a bitch then I suggest, you look further within yourself and determine what it is about me that makes you uncomfortable with yourself.
