I offer common courtesy and general respect to everyone I meet when I
first encounter them; the levels of courtesy and respect are then
adjusted based on what that person says and does. I do not waste my
time, affection, and resources on the unworthy and the ingrates because
doing so would dilute the amount of these gifts I can give to my true
friends and my lover.
I detest conversing with people who refuse to speak properly (I do
give some leeway to foreigners) if English is their first, primary
language. I dry heave each time I encounter someone over the computer
who wants to chat but cannot be bothered to punctuate, capitalize, or
spell out simple words; I inform these individuals of my displeasure and
offer them a chance at redemption before adding them to the "ignore"
lists.
If one would become part of the company I choose to keep, they must
demonstrate intelligence, respect for myself and those in my circle of
friends, a sense of humor (even when laughing at themselves), a strong
will, a drive to succeed in achieving the goals they set for their
lives, the ability to withstand my calling shots as I see them, the
ability to call me on things honestly and forthrightly, and the ability
to think for themselves. Weak-minded and weak-willed people need not
apply.
