I am a woman who has had to face adversity in almost every way at home,
school, and work. As I get older, I realize how important it is to stay
focused on what I want, my goals. I have an intolerance for people (men
or women) who stand in my way. In the world of academia for example,
moving up the ladder can be pretty lonely for an ethnic woman since most
of the doctoral programs are comprised of men. I have managed to
maintain a few good relationships with friends who understand what I
want. I always get what I want because I work for it. I love people who
understand this.
