I'm damn tired of being told that expressing my opinion and being frank in my dealings with other people constitutes bitchiness and an evident need for therapy.

I have absolutely no respect for people who willingly allow themselves to build surmountable problems in their lives into impassable mountains of issues that cannot be solved but instead should be allowed to fester as they wallow in self-pity and martyr-ism.

In general, I despair at the willingness of mainstream society to delude themselves into believing that a) buying into crass commercialism is a good way to pursue happiness, b) George W. Bush and the Republican Party is a benign and benevolent force for good and c) acting weak and helpless so that men will do things for you is a good way to empower women - or alternately, that being a controlling, objectifying, misogynistic asshole is a good way to prove your masculinity and compensate for your shortcomings.

Unfortunately, this does not stop me from attempting - quite frequently and at great length - to engage people in intelligent discourse. This exercise in futility usually ends in me retreating quietly to lick my wounds and bitch about how stupid people are online.
