Has anyone else noticed that an increaslingly insane number of women between the ages of
12 and 40 are claiming some form of severe emotional distress? Labels and
disorders are fervently grasped and worse yet, proudly held aloft, in what is nothing more than a pathetic attempt to
garner attention. The majority of these women aren't suffering from anything but an acute case of being an ASSHOLE.
Example: Why the hell is everyone and their sister suddenly bipolar?
Now, this is not to say that bipolarism doesn't exist, but for fuck's
sake, it is not affecting 85% of American women. People are far too
quick to throw the label out, on themselves or on others, without 1)
seeking professional help in diagnosing the issue, or 2) even seriously
learning what it MEANS. For example, when I was going through puberty,
my mother insisted I was bipolar, just because I'd yell at her. No, I
was a moody teenager. Moodiness DOES NOT equal bipolarism, it's
more likely to equal fucking PMS! Or maybe, just maybe, BEING IN A BAD
MOOD! Not every moody woman is bipolar (or suffering from PMS for that
matter). Shit happens in our lives too, and guess what - we CAN be
legitimately pissed off, upset or angry without having some kind of
"disorder". I hate self-diagnosis, because it's so often done by
people who just like to have a label for themselves. I've known far too
many women who call themselves bipolar (despite never speaking to a
goddamn professional) as if it's a badge of honor.
It's some "emo" bullshit - giving themselves a label so they feel different and deserving of special treatment. They think it also gives them a convenient excuse for acting like an asshole whenever they choose.
It's insulting to anyone who truly IS dealing with a disorder, it's childish, and it's shameful.
The same thing goes for those damn emo idiots who cut themselves then
show everyone, with some stupid disclaimer about how fucked up they are.
Now don't get me wrong, someone who cuts themselves for any reason needs
to get some damn help, but if you're slicing yourself then going around
SHOWING people, going, "Look how damaged I am," you deserve to get your
ass kicked. For fuck's sake, this is NOT something people brag about! At
least, not when it's a REAL PROBLEM and not something done so that
people will give you undeserved attention and special treatment. People who do this shit for
attention deserve a slip and trip to the ER to wake their dumbfuck asses
up.
Then there's what has become The Eating Disorder Club. When did having
an ED go from something people sought help for to something fucking
STYLISH? And this is in two ways - one being those fucked-up morons in
pro-ED online communities who coach each other on how best to lose those
last stubborn ounces keeping them out of their six-year-old sister's
jeans, and those people who I don't for a millisecond believe actually
HAVE EDs, but who claim to so that they'll fit in with the million other
women claiming to have them. Having "disordered eating" does not mean
you're anorexic - it means you're a normal human! Most people have some
form of disordered eating, as very few people actually understand how to
eat HEALTHILY. (Translation: Most people are FUCKING STUPID.) News
flash: If you stay steadily overweight, but occasionally skip breakfast
to try and lose weight, you are not anorexic. And shockingly, if you are
consistently GAINING WEIGHT and whining endlessly about it - you aren't anorexic either... but hey, maybe
you're just the world's WORST bulimic bitch, and only grasped the
"binge" aspect of the disease. Really, you're just an idiot who doesn't
know how to properly go about weight loss. Here's a tip: GET OFF YOUR
FAT ASS.
Why has being fucked-up suddenly become "Trendy"? I am damn sick and tired of people who are desperate to falsely claim a
label just for the sake of scratching out an identity. The real fucking
crime of this whole mess (aside from bombarding the world with "OH GOD
PITY ME MY LIFE IS SO HARD" bullshit that us well-adjusted folks just
don't need to hear) is that it's a goddamn insult to people who really
HAVE these problems. Oh, and guess what ladies? By constantly whining
about all your SUPER-SERIOUS MENTAL PROBLEMS, you're thoroughly proving
to the world that we're a generation full of fucked-up morons who need
to be saved from our own incompetence and stupidity. Way to set back the
women's movement, dipshits.
